Project Penzance: Mutiny Bay

Park News
Wednesday, 7th November 2007 By Dan Ketteringham

More details have emerged about next year's redevelopment of the Merrie England area.

It's been announced in the park's staff newsletter that the name of the new pirate-themed area at Alton Towers will be Mutiny Bay.

The Tea Cups' new name will be Marauder's Mayhem, and the ride will be rethemed in a "spinning barrels" style. Planning permission for the new Battle Galleons ride, replacing the Splash Kart Challenge, has recently been granted by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council - despite groundwork having commenced some weeks ago.

The new ride will apparently be heavily themed, featuring "interactive scenes and other ships".

There is no word yet on what the second new ride will be, though it is likely to be a small-scale flat ride.
