Charlie opens today

Park News
Saturday, 1st April 2006 By Dan Ketteringham

Today sees the opening of the new-for-2006 attraction at Alton Towers.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: The Ride will be letting park guests experience everything that Charlie Bucket does in Roald Dahl's book.

From the ride on the chocolate river, to seeing characters such as Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teavee, guests will go on to experience the "Great Glass Elevator" in the finale of the ride.

Everything to do with the ride had to be approved by Dahl & Dahl Ltd so it's sure to be faithful to the book.

Here at ATA we've covered the construction in great detail: from announcing the ride back in May last year, to the ride plans when they were submitted to the council, and of course the many photo and information updates.
