Park News
Monday, 25th February 2008 By Dan Ketteringham

Alton Towers are attempting to break a Guinness World Record and they need your help to do it!

On Saturday 15th March 2008, Alton Towers will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of pirates.

The day marks the start of the park's 2008 open season, as well as the unveiling of the new pirate-themed Mutiny Bay area. The park needs buccaneers of all ages to join in the fun!

As well as being part of a World Record attempt, the first 1200 people who dress as pirates will get half price entry into the park on the gate* and be among the first to experience Mutiny Bay, and new water ride Battle Galleons.

The current record for the largest gathering of pirates is 1,140, set at the release of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Alton Towers is inviting those interested to register ASAP at www.altontowersworldrecord.com. Ages 0-100 welcome!
