Alton Towers Scarefest begins

Resort News
Saturday, 13th October 2007 By Dan Ketteringham

The Scarefest event starts today, and sees the return of a Halloween event to Alton Towers for the first time since 2004.

The festivities will run until Sunday 4th November.

As previously reported, popular scare maze Terror of the Towers makes a comeback, as well as two mazes over at the hotels - an indoor maze which had a successful debut last year, Room 13, and a new outdoor cornfield maze which looks very impressive, entitled Field of 1000 Screams.

The full list of changes to the park and hotels can be found in this earlier news item. In addition there is also a Scarefest-spec park map which, as you would expect, shows guests the location and "scare factor" of the various Halloween additions.

The park will have a later closing time of 9pm throughout the event, with the exception of Monday 15th to Thursday 18th (inclusive), where the closing time will be 8pm. Note that there will be no Early Ride Time during the event due to the extended opening hours.

Here's hoping the event is a big success, to allow it to once again become an annual occurrence. We will of course bring you plenty of photos and reports in the next week or so - watch this space!
