Alton Towers closed for bad weather

Park News
Friday, 22nd March 2013 By Jayne Sargeant

Overnight snow has forced the the park to shut its gates for the day.

Due to the heavy snow fall in the Staffordshire area overnight, Alton Towers have taken the decision to not open to guests today.

They announced the decision just before 9.00am this morning. A message on the official website states "We're sorry we can't open today but the health & safety of our staff and guests has to be our primary concern and we're sure our visitors will understand."

Tickets pre-booked for today will be valid for any other day at the park (excluding concert and event days). Hotel guests are advised to call in advance of making their journey.

Alton Towers hope to open as usual tomorrow but this may be subject to change. If you're planning on visiting, please check the weather updates page on the official site before travelling.
