The results of the 2006 Mitch Hawker Steel Roller Coaster Poll have been published.

Nemesis has been a firm favourite of enthusiasts ever since its installation in 1994, but this year's ranking of 3rd is the highest it has ever fared in the poll, which is respected as the most accurate reflection of how steel and wooden roller coasters are rated by enthusiasts across the globe.

Here are where Alton Towers' roller coasters ranked in 2006:

Other UK coasters that did well were Dragon's Fury at Chessington (30th), Speed: No Limits at Oakwood (33rd), and Nemesis Inferno, Stealth and Colossus at Thorpe Park (51st, 60th and 78th respectively).

See the Mitch Hawker Poll website for the full results list.
