Hotel extension planning application submitted

Resort News
Wednesday, 6th September 2006 By Dan Ketteringham

Plans have been submitted to Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to extend the Alton Towers Hotel.

The proposed development would provide an additional 36 executive suites, each sleeping between six and eight guests. Primarily targeting conference guests, the suites will also appeal to larger families and to those simply wishing to experience a more luxurious and spacious room. The newly opened Spa will also benefit from a much needed expansion.

Ian Parkinson, General Manager of the Alton Towers Hotels, said: "Demand for our existing eight suites has been phenomenal, with some being booked up to a year in advance. As the traditional family unit has changed, so have the requirements of our guests, with many requiring facilities to cater for up to eight family members. These additional 36 suites will ensure we can continue to meet the needs of our wide range of leisure and corporate guests."
