The police are wishing to speak to any witnesses of an accident that occurred near Alton Towers on Thursday 25th May 2006.
A motorcycle rider died in a horrific smash between Denstone and Alton and it happened at around 6pm, about the time when the majority of people would have been leaving Alton Towers.
The man died at the scene from his injuries despite frantic efforts by the emergency services to save him.
The crash happened near the entrance to Folly Farm in Denstone Lane, between the village of Denstone and Alton. The rider has been identified as Robert Stonier, aged 45, of Oakamoor Road, Cheadle.
The accident caused major traffic delays for people in the Alton Towers/JCB area.
A senior police spokesman said: "The vehicles involved were a blue Daihatsu four-track driven by a 60-year-old male from the Alton area and a silver Yamaha motorcycle ridden by 45-year-old male from the Cheadle area.
"The collision is being investigated by police at Uttoxeter who are appealing for witnesses."
