ATA Gallery goes live

Site News
Thursday, 10th November 2005 By Dan Ketteringham

The latest stage in the continuing improvement of ATA is now here…

Ever since we relaunched the website back in May this year, we've been promising that the galleries would return. It's taken a long time, but they can finally be unveiled.

"Why has it taken so long?", we hear you cry. Well, basically because we had to start from scratch. On the old ATA site, photos were usually around 420x280 pixels in dimensions. The biggest change is that we now have photos up to 1024x768.

With over 2,200 photos to add, you can imagine why it wasn't a quick process. Also, the new gallery, powered by Coppermine, had to be integrated into the ATA website, which was no easy task.

However, we got there in the end. And we are proud to present the results to you.

Also, during the process of creating the new galleries, we brought Rob G onto the team. He's our official photographer, and we're delighted to have him on board.

So why not take a look around, see what you can find. As well as a gallery for the rides (go to any ride page in the Park Guide or Retired Rides sections to access), there are also many other albums to see. Here are some choice picks:

  • Access All Areas
Exclusive photos of the major rides, from areas not accessible by members of the public.
  • Rita Construction
Our very popular Rita construction section is back, but this time all in high-resolution, naturally. There are also one or two photos in there that weren't in the original gallery…
  • Winter Photography
Closed season photos from the last few years - check out the 2005-2006 album for the latest shots!
  • 2005 Events
Photos from all the events this season, including the Fireworks Spectacular.
  • Nemesis Comic Book
Read this fantasy illustrated comic book that came out in 1994 along with the opening of Nemesis.
We hope you enjoy the galleries. And remember, this is just the start - we will be updating them all the time, so keep checking back.

And finally, if you have any photos that we can use, particularly from past or construction periods, please send them in.

If you are in a group, try and get a "Photopass" so the cost of on-ride photos is cheaper.
