Corkscrew out of action

Park News
Sunday, 24th June 2001 By Steve Taylor

Following yesterday's incident on Corkscrew, the ride will remain closed until an investigation is completed to try and find out why such an unusual event took place.

It still remains a mystery as to why the coaster stalled mid-course. After the ride had come to a halt at 13:20 on Sunday 24th June, all passengers were rescued from the carriages in an operation that took over 90 minutes. All passengers were looked after by trained personnel, and the ride was immediately shut down.

We are not sure when Alton Towers plan on re-opening Corkscrew. We will have more news soon.
