New offer for airline chaos victims

Alton Towers has rallied in support of stranded holidaymakers caught up in this week's airline chaos.

The park and its sister Thorpe Park is offering free tickets to all tourists whose breaks were hit by the dispute at Heathrow Airport.

Marketing director for Tussauds Group Andy Edge said: "Free tickets to our theme parks cannot make up for the chaos experienced by thousands of families but we hope this gesture will put a smile on people's faces when they eventually return to Blighty."

The offer will run at Alton Towers and Thorpe Park between Monday, September 5, and Friday, September 30, and will be available to everyone who turns up at the parks with proof that they were caught up in the chaos.

British Airways travellers will have to produce tickets showing that they were due to depart from Heathrow on Thursday, August 11, or Friday, August 12.
